The Art of the Interview Thank You Email

So you have had your interview .. Now what do you do ?

Writing a Thank You email to the person you interviewed with leaves them with a good thought about you.  Roughly only 20% of people write a thank you note, you can really increase your chances with a company. It really cant hurt , The worst they will do is ignore it !

If you plan to send a thank-you note, you need to do it right. Your thank-you note is so much more than just a polite way to thank your interviewer. It’s a chance to assert yourself as the best candidate for the job, fix any mistakes you may have made in the interview, touch on any unanswered questions and show that you’re invested in the position.

Here are a couple tips that I have found on the internet that may be helpful

Don’t write it ahead of time– You never know  how its going go , Rough drafts are ok
Tailor it to the company’s culture – Make sure this fits the company its going to
Make it personal – Touch on things you talked about
Don’t leave anyone out – Send a not to everyone you interviewed with , together or separate
Show your Value – spell out why you are the best person for that job
Act like you already – confidence is a great thing , just don’t be over confident
Send one even if you didn’t get it – keeps you open for another position down the road
Send it promptly – within 24 hours

Here are some examples of ones that  I have sent
